SOUNDSCAPE NORTHWEST  •  PORTLAND, OR  •  4.27–5.2 2026

What began as a chance airplane encounter between Brian McSweeney and Shawn Rios grew into a yearslong friendship igniting their inevitable collaboration that became Chicago’s MIIRRORS. They initially prioritized album creation over live performance, trading the stage for the tracking room, morphing into a collaborative quintet of veteran multi-instrumentalists—JG Shadid, Andre Miller, and Patrick Riley completing the sound. Waves of cascading textures blur the lines between synthesizers and guitars, conjuring My Bloody Valentine, Slowdive and Grizzly Bear. Songwriting still at the core, Rios’ atypical rhythms anchor the songs while McSweeney’s voice ascends above the band’s expanding colors.

Their 2023 debut, Motion and Picture saw the band touring the midwest and east coast while continually selling out rooms at home in Chicago. MIIRRORS will announce a midwest to west coast tour in Spring 2026, debuting their upcoming EP Songs You Thought Existed, with other national routes to follow.

“You can never predict the whims of a fickle public… they certainly seem to have all the elements in place to be the next big thing.”
-The Chicago Reader
“Covering Buckley is a near herculean task—Buckley had one of the biggest vocal ranges in music history after all—and MIIRRORS pass with flying colors.”
-Paste Magazine
“Genre-bending compositions of epic proportions— MIIRRORS remains a bit of a mystery, but the band’s anonymity aside, listening to their stories and lyrics feels like catching up with an old friend.”
